Periods is a part of menstrual cycle, which indicates that the body is working fine.Endometrial tissue is released outside from the womb through the vagina during periods. periods can start in a cycle of every 28 days or 21 days. Normally periods last for 3 to 7 days. Most of the time girls get periods when they are in their teens like 11 or 12, it can happen anytime between the age from 11 to 15. When you first have your periods it will be there only for a few days which is quiet normal. Before you get your first period, as an indication that you are going to have your periods, you may find mostly a white discharge or a off white discharge .Having periods regularly every month is a symptom of healthy body. Children may get periods early now a days due to the consumption of fast food which is now a days considered normal. This can also be seen as a rapid growth in children, children are suddenly becoming a women when they are just in the age to play.

Common symptoms during periods include cramps or pain mostly in the abdomen, near the sides where the ovaries are located or even down in the vaginal area, bloating or swelling in the abdomen, tiredness and mood swings. During periods women go through a lot of emotional loops which is a rapid mood swing and tend to get very emotional sometimes cry for small things, or get angry for small things. And from women to women the symptoms can vary for example my aunt use to have vomiting sensations and sometimes use to vomit during the time of periods even one of our neighbor had the same symptom but my mom didn’t have it . My mom had severe pain and headache. Some people also say that they do not experience any pain during periods. For me I have had no pain as such in the starting two years of my periods but gradually as I was growing mostly due to hormonal changes now I have a lot of pain during my periods with heavy mood swings where I cry unnecessarily or for small things and get angry very fast. I also feel dizzy sometimes and feel like I have to lie down. From person to person there is a variation in symptoms, amount of discharge, and number of days it lasts etc.

Changing of pad every 4 hours is required, we have to be very hygiene during those times. Being hygiene is the only way to avoid infections and itching all kinds of discomfort at that time. Also some people get rashes down on the legs inside due to wearing pads, they can use some creams before they wear it so that it may not rub against your skin when you walk and create rashes as well as we can also be selective when buying pads, always buy the one which you are comfortable of using.

Usually menstruation ends when we are around the age of 45 to 55, usually as we are in our 50’s and this phase is called “Menopause” which means that women are no longer ovulating or producing eggs. Periods stop during pregnancy which is common. In some women periods may stop due to other reasons like some long term illness, weight loss, stress, hormonal issues etc.The only way to have a healthy periods is by keeping a healthy body through a healthy diet and exercise as well as having a healthy mind.
