ODYSSEUS : THE OATH
"I finally understood the true purpose of my journey; I had to experience the wide world, so different from the peaceful island where I had grown up . I had to learn what lengths a human being will go to in order to achieve power or to maintain it and how hate can drag a man straight to the bottom of the abyss."

ODYSSEUS, the man of the mind, whose words cut sharper than swords, the one man who proved that mind is a greater weapon, was the prince of Ithaca, who later became the king of Ithaca. The one man who was admired for his righteousness and the way he held love and regard for the woman he loved. Even when the most beautiful woman (as believed to be) chose him, he chose her cousin Penelope because he was enchanted by her. Thus, proving that he wont fall into the traps of beauty, intelligence and the kindness would win him over. He knew that boundless beauty meant war and later it came true when Helen left with the prince of troy, abandoning her husband and children. What came next was war, a war that lasted ten years long which shed the blood of countless men! The gods enjoyed the war, and extended the time making it impossible for anyone to win. But then finally did any of them win? Was it odysseus who won over troy or vice versa forms the rest of the novel. The first half of the novel, till odysseus was made king was very enjoyable to read, and pleasant compared to the second half of the novel which portrayed war and violence. Personally, I dont think Helen or any other woman / man for that matters is worth taking countless lives, only fools fight for beauty. There was a heart breaking part in the novel when a child was ripped out from his mothers hands and thrown over a cliff to die a terrible death by the son of Achillies, I cannot overcome the pain of that terrible scene from my imagination. That is the most hated act from the move for me.
